Equilibrium Products Senior Discovery Second Round at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre

The third of the 2014 Equilibrium Products Senior Discovery Second Rounds was held this weekend at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre in Hardwicke, Gloucestershire. The second round was held on Sunday 18th May 2014 and fifty-one combinations came forward to compete.

All of the starters were aiming to produce a treble clear in order to qualify for the EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held at the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.

Following the first two rounds of the class, twelve combinations made it through to the final jump off in which four combinations then went on to produce a treble clear. This meant that it was the clock that was to be crucial in deciding the order of results.

The fastest treble clear of the day came from 25 year-old Mark Townshend from Studley, Warwickshire on his own 5 year-old chestnut mare, Electra VI. Drawn third to go in the final jump off, the combination’s fast time of 44.17 seconds became the time to beat but no one was able to catch them.

Mark was pleased with his mare’s result “I am so pleased with Electra’s performance. I have had her since she was a 3 year-old and I broke her in myself, she is coming on fantastically.”

Charlene Daly (34) from Bridgend, Mid Glamorgan, finished in second place on her and Dianne Walker’s 8 year-old chestnut mare, Promise IV. This combination clocked up their treble clear in a time of 47.51 seconds.

Third place went to 49 year-old Sarah Hedges from Bromgrove, Worcestershire on her own 6 year-old bay gelding Dakuno. Their treble clear was secured in 48.78 seconds.

One more combination also achieved a treble clear and therefore a total of four combinations will now go forward to the EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Championship Final.
