Born in 1989 Erin Orford is a member of the Team GBR World Class Development Squad for Para Dressage.
Erin has competed nationally and internationally for over 10 years and has ridden up to Advanced Medium at Regional level.
In 2014 Erin was selected as a reserve rider at World Equestrian Games and the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.
Erin made her senior team debut as part of the gold medal winning team in Gothenburg, Sweden at the 2017 European Championships where she won individual bronze with her top horse Dior owned by Annabel Whittet
Erin competes at Grade III level Para Dressage. Erin says “When I was born, the bones in my lower legs and knees hadn’t formed properly and I was missing the radius in both my arms, meaning I have shorter lower arms and only 4 fingers on each hand. My parents were told that I would never be able to walk and I would either be wheelchair bound or they could opt to have both my legs amputated. So at the age of 1, I had the operation and have learnt to walk in prosthetic legs.
I started riding aged 2 (if you can call it riding at that age!) at Bank Farm RDA in Buckinghamshire. Apparently I was only on the waiting list for ages so I used to sit by the phone to see if someone had cancelled so that I could go. At this time having my own pony was only a dream, I never even imagined it would ever happen! I’d always attended a mainstream school, tried every sport as you do but everything changed in 2004 when I went out to Athens to watch the Paralympics. Watching the British team win Gold was incredible and I suddenly realised that this is what I wanted to do.
Since then I’ve been incredibly lucky in having some amazing horsepower to ride, and gain experience from them over the years.”
A qualified UKCC Level 2 Dressage coach, Erin has her sights set on the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and beyond.
Alongside her riding and coaching commitments, Erin works part-time in Digital Communications, is an Athlete Mentor for the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust and attends various events as a motivational speaker.

About Equilibrium Products
I’ve used Equilibrium Products’ Massage Therapy products for a number of years on several horses and always noticed the benefit.
They have developed an XL Equilibrium Therapy Massage Pad for an even better fit, as an extra-long version to support horses with any tightness at the back and behind the saddle.
The Stretch & Flex Training Wraps have also been a particularly well used product where the protective but breathable material is an excellent choice when working them.
