Our winner for April to June 2019

We are delighted to announce April King as our Rising Star winner for April to June 2019. April and her horse ‘Quinn’, impressed us with their dedication, hard work and achievements. We are looking forwards to working with her, and seeing what amazing things they do this year.’

April is a keen 17 year old Event rider from Buckinghamshire, currently attending Hartpury College. Quinn is a 7 Year Old, Welsh D x Thoroughbred, 16.1hh Chestnut Gelding.

Quinn is an all round enthusiastic horse who loves any discipline. This combination are just starting their first season of eventing at BE80, but they are hoping to progress up through the levels quickly. April has recently been cross country schooling for the first time for 2019, and ended up popping 1m combinations! They came 7th at their last event which was super pleasing as it was a testing course!!

April and Quinn have been long listed for their area dressage pony club team, for a chance at qualifying for the pony club championships in August. Last month they did their first Open and was placed 5th with 65%. They qualfied for the DENGIE second rounds at Addington Manor; this was a huge highlight in their career! When she got to second rounds, in high winds and rain, she achieved the same score and was placed 7th in a hot section, with some horses being double Quinn’s age.

The pair have been part of the Pony Club Regional Jumping Team in October. Here they were placed 4th in the 85cm and went clear in the 70cm. This week they got conformation that they have been selected to jump on the area team which is 90cm!

April says, “Our next aim with being on the team is to compete in the 90cm eventer challenge at Blenhium Horse Trials in September!!”.
