Sponsored rider Emma Jo Slater claims an exciting win at HOYS in the Grade C Championship

Equilibrium sponsored rider Emma Jo Slater delivered an excellent performance at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show, winning the Speedi-Beet Grade C Championship beating top riders and stiff competition.

Emma Jo, a local rider hailing from Kimba Stud in Buckinghamshire, rode the eight-year-old chestnut mare Lizziemary to deliver a fast and exciting jump-off, clocking 35.82 seconds. Her speedy and careful round kept her ahead of riders such as Billy Twomey, Tim Stockdale, Nicole Pavitt and Will Funnell to claim the well-deserved win.

Emma Jo describes Lizziemary, owned by Kim Barzilay, as being quite fast, but careful and brave.

“It means a lot. I have always wanted to win here, and never quite managed it, but now I have and I am really proud.” – the words from a very elated Emma Jo.

Jay Halim produced a good round in 37.67 seconds to take second place on his ride, Abrisco, while Emma Slater and Art D’Usance took third in 40 seconds.
