EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Second Round at Crofton Manor EC

British Showjumping Discovery

Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre near Fareham, Hampshire hosted an EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Second Round on Saturday 26th July 2014. Fifty-two starters came forward for this second round and each of the competitors were focusing on qualifying for the respective Championship Final in August.

Each starter was aiming to produce a treble clear in order to reach the EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held at the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.

Eighteen combinations delivered two clear rounds to make it through into the final jump off and five combinations then went on to secure that all important treble clear. This then meant that the clock was crucial in deciding the order of the results.

The fastest treble clear of the day came from 55 year-old Martin Brake from Yeovil, Somerset on board his own 7 year-old grey gelding Courtown Skippy. Martin was drawn third from last to go in the jump off and having seen that three other combinations had gone clear before him, Martin knew he would have to go fast and clear to win, which he went on to do by producing a clear in just 40.00 seconds.

Commenting on his win Martin said “It was a very competitive class with a well-built course by Matthew Hoskins. I have only have Skippy for eight months and he jumped fantastically, I was really pleased with his performance and I look forward to the future with him.”

Second place was awarded to 33 year-old Leonnie Jones from Haywards Heath and she was on Bellatrix III, a 7 year-old black mare owned by James Johnson. A careful third round from this combination saw them cross the finish line in 41.76 seconds.

Third place was taken by 32 year-old Carly Purves from Bexley, Kent with Johanna Hedberg’s 9 year-old light bay mare Avianya. This combination delivered their treble clear in 44.08 seconds.

This second round saw two more combinations go on to produce a treble clear, which means that five combinations will now go forward to the EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Championship Final.
