Your Horse Live, a mention in H&H and a new cute & fluffy addition to the family!
A Merry Christmas from Rising Star – Alice Goring
After a busy few weeks, it is great to be writing my second blog for Equilibrium! Despite it now being the middle of winter there are some exciting things going on here, the most recent being the addition of a very cute, very tiny Miniature Shetland foal to the team. He is currently nameless, so all suggestions are welcome!! He came from the Pinglewood Stud (the people that provide the Shetland Grand National mascot at Olympia) and he will be making an appearance during the 2016 Eventing season…he won’t be competing with the big boys just yet, just cheering his brothers on from the sidelines!!
I had a fantastic time at Your Horse Live last month and it was really good to meet more members of the Equilibrium team. The stand was buzzing and it was very exciting to see the Simply Supplements and Simplyboost ranges being launched at this event. I also really enjoyed the demo from Paul Tapner and Ben Hobday. Ben has made a fantastic comeback and it was great fun to watch. It was my first visit to YHL and I will be going back next year – I would highly recommend it if you have never been before!
My 4 year old Joey is now in the middle of his Winter break and seems to be having a great time getting up to mischief with his 12hh field companion. I would love to do some age classes on him next year and it is really good to be able to give him a little holiday before the work begins again next year. It has also given me a good chance to crack on with the other boys.
The Little Frenchman (Finley) is going brilliantly at the moment and a combination of his new saddle and my Equilibrium Massage Pad seems to have really sorted his back out. He is jumping out of his skin and I am looking forward to taking him to some BSJA and JAS competitions soon. Next year we will be aiming to do some more 2*s and hopefully an Advanced by the end of the year if all goes to plan! I was over the moon to scroll through an article that Horse and Hound did recently about 9 eventing mini marvels, to see his name up there with some of the greats. There was me, reading the article and dreaming that one day Finley would be there….and there we were!! It is a great honour and will make me smile for a long time.
My tweet was also one of Horse and Hounds’ tweets of the week recently, after writing about my 77 year old grandpa who goes out with the Mid Surrey Farmer’s drag every week and jumps hedges that any sane person would think were unjumpable! I went out on a “small” day with him last year and lets just say it was very scary and I had to shut my eyes!!! He has always been a huge inspiration to me and has taught me a lot through the years.
Have a brilliant Christmas and bring on 2016, let’s hope it’s a lucky one!
