Rising Star Winner Alice Goring - November 2015

Alice Goring and 4 year old Joey

As the Eventing season has now drawn to a close, it has given me a great chance to get my 4 year old Joey out to some competitions.

I bought him in the summer and he had only been sat on a few times so he was a real project. He came straight from Ireland and was incredibly nervous of humans and very head shy. I have spent the summer gaining his trust and he really has come on in leaps and bounds!

When they are 4, it is important to remember that they are still growing, so I have taken it very slowly but it has been a very rewarding process.

Over the last few weeks, he went clear in his first ever hunter trial (coming 12th out of 70 despite going slowly) and last weekend I was thrilled that he won his dressage! He will have a little break around Christmas time to eat grass and generally be a baby, but I am really excited to start his eventing career next season.

I am having withdrawal symptoms from eventing already, so I made this video of my main horse The Little Frenchman’s season: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PpYeTUAKrmY.
He is only just 15hh but has got double clears at Novice, 1* and Intermediate this year. He is incredible and I can’t wait to see what next season has to bring. He is having a bit of down time at the moment after a busy season. We will be focusing on dressage and showjumping this winter and he is loving his regular massages with my new Equilibrium massage pad!
