‘We are delighted to announce Chelsea as our Rising Star winner for October to December 2018. Chelsea and her horses Bruno and Rum show strong dedication to the sport including competing and training in Madrid for two months every year! We are looking forward to working with Chelsea and Bruno, we can’t wait to see what amazing things they do this year’.
Chelsea is a young ambitious rider who purchased 5 year old Bruno, a beautiful Irish Sports Horse 2 months ago and Rum a Connie 8 months ago.
‘Bruno: Before he came to me he had gone out to one showjumping show before. I am now going to take it easy with his jumping in the next year or so and really focus on dressage until his back is fully formed. Then we will be going out eventing starting at BE105 level. In the first two weeks of having him I taught him medium trot and collected canter as well and some strides of extended. I will be training at novice over the winter with hopes of getting out to a show by the end of the winter. Then step it up at the levels with hopes of competing medium+. I will also be applying for the young riders GB team with him with hopes of competing nationally, internationally and hopefully getting to the Europeans!!
Rum: Before I got Rum he was a field/happy hacking pony that had had a couple of months off work completely. In the first 7 months and 3 shows later we have gone from not doing any dressage (me and him before!) to qualifying for 6 classes at levels up to novice to complete in a national competition at bury farm. This we had done and placed in the top 10 overall also being the youngest rider and smallest pony with our best score of 73.21% in one test!! Now i have Bruno, I will be doing less showing with him but still taking him on sponsored rides etc as i only ride him for his owner.’
