The Quick Chill rug can be used as many times a day as needed, but please make sure the horse is not cooled down too much in cold or windy weather.

How long do I use the Quick Chill Cooling rug for?

The active rapid cooling effect lasts until the outside surface of the rug feels warm to the touch. The time it takes for the rug and the skin temperature of the horse to equalise varies according to the atmospheric temperature and humidity. Once the rug feels warm, reactivate the cooling effect by wetting the rug as many times as needed. On a typical warm day in the UK the cooling effect lasts a minimum of 10 minutes.

Can I use the new Equilibrium Heatsense Battery in my Massage Pad?

We would recommend not using the Heatsense Battery with your Massage Pad, and it should only be charged using the specific Heatsense Charger.

When I turn the heat function on the red light goes off after only a few seconds, what is happening?

This means your battery doesn’t have enough charge to deliver any heat, you should recharge your battery straight away. It may have a small amount of charge to deliver a massage session, but the intensity may be weaker than what a fully charged battery could deliver.

How often should I recharge the Heatsense Battery?

A fully charged battery can deliver at least 10 sessions of heat and massage in normal weather conditions. In cold temperatures, this could reduce to 8 sessions. You will still be able to run massage sessions, however we’d recommend recharging your battery after 8-10 sessions to get the full heat benefit.

The red light on the controller is turning on and off during the heat cycle – is this normal?

Yes, this is telling you that the maximum heat temperature has been reached and therefore the light will go out. As the temperature drops again the light may come back on, indicating the pad is heating again. You may also notice towards the end of the 30 minute total pad run time the red light has gone out completely, if your battery has ample charge then this is simply because your horse has received the correct target temperature for at least 15 minutes.

Are the Equilibrium chargers interchangeable?

No, it is important that you only charge your Equilibrium Batteries with their specifically allocated chargers.

Can I use my silver Equilibrium Massage battery in my Heatsense pad?

No, we do not recommend using any other battery than the Equilibrium Heatsense Battery in the Heatsense Pad. Doing so will invalidate your warranty.

I’ve washed my horse off after riding but want to use the Massage Pad Heatsense – can I?

Yes. Try to get all excess water off your horse by using a sweat scraper and/or towel drying, and then use the pad over a thin towel. We would not recommend using the heat function directly against your horse’s back if their coat is wet. If the Massage Pad Heatsense gets damp, ensure it is thoroughly dried before being stored away ready for the next use.

My Massage Pad Heatsense feels cold when I take it out the bag in winter. Can I use it on my horse?

We recommend that you ‘pre-heat’ the pad by turning the heat function on for a few minutes before using on your horse in extreme cold weather.

How can I keep my horse warm in winter when using the Massage Pad Heatsense?

You can use the Massage Pad Heatsense over a thin fleece rug to help keep your horse warm during their massage session. Alternatively, you can place a rug over the pad too if you prefer, this method is better suited if you are using the heat function so the pad is in direct contact with your horses’ back.

Why won’t my Massage Pad Heatsense turn on?

Should I use the Massage Pad Heatsense before or after exercise?

You can use it either before or after exercise, or both! Use before exercise as a warm up, or after exercise to aid recovery. Especially if you have worked your horse harder than usual. The Massage Pad Heatsense uses the same massage technology from our original Massage Pad. In our clinical trial the Massage Pad was used 6 days a week. Using it this frequently significantly increased back flexibility and relaxation. Therefore, we recommend using it at least this often to see the maximum benefits.

Can my horse or pony travel in the Massage Pad Heatsense?

We do not advise travelling in the Massage Pad Heatsense for 2 reasons. The first is that if a horse leans on the pad against the partition this could damage the product. Secondly, to get the most benefit out of a session the horse needs to be stood at rest.

What if there isn’t enough adjustment on the Stellar Headcollar for my horse size?

If the standard sizes provided do not suit your horse, we will endeavour to help you get the size right. Some horses might need a smaller nosepiece and longer headpiece, and vice versa, and we are happy to accommodate these requirement directly through our shop.

Do I still need to use a piece of string or quick release to tie the rope on?

For safety measures, it is always best practise to do this, but so long as the Stellar Headcollar is fitted properly, the Stellar Headcollar will release if the horse pulls backwards applying pressure on the poll. An medium width bailer twine will break at average 78kg, and an equi-ping will release at an average of 80kg. The less pressure applied to the horse’s poll before they release, the less risk of injury.

My horse likes to rub his head which results in him inadvertently undoing his headcollar, how can I prevent this?

We suggest that you use 2 keepers either side to prevent the tab of the safety release being caught when your horse rubs, you can buy a pack of 2 spare keepers on our website.

My horse regularly pulls back and releases the Stellar Headcollar can I buy spare parts if he does damage the headcollar?

Of course, the Stellar Headcollar was designed so that the headpiece can be replaced if it gets lost or damaged, if your horse regularly pulls back it is worth having a spare headpiece. You can purchase the Stellar Headpiece and spare keepers on our website

Will the Stellar Headcollar come undone if my horse rears when I am leading him or if he pulls back loading?

The weight chosen for the headcollar to release takes these scenarios into consideration. It should not open when the horse pulls back, unless the handler is applying a force of 83kg or more on the Stellar Headcollar.

How do I position the keepers on my Stellar Headcollar? What difference do the various positions make?

The keeper must be on the tip of the flap of material, it is a keeper to stop the end of the headpiece being caught and pulling up. The keeper must never be put over the poppers as this will prevent the poppers releasing correctly.
